Gathering Places
Every farm has its own favorite gathering place. Sometimes it’s a porch or a fire pit, by a pond or a gravel bar, on a horse or sitting on the tailgate of a pickup truck. Past their prime, barns and sheds still hold a certain charm. Feed, supplies and tools were stored and animals were sheltered in these barns. They were playgrounds for children, rendezvous for lovers, meeting rooms to discuss family decisions, quiet places to contemplate life, and more. Deep within us we know that we need to stay connected with nature. So, we build benches where we can reconnect with the outdoors, our neighbors, and with ourselves.
